What is the meaning behind your business name?When researching business names, I wanted to find something that represented my brand goals and values. The name 'Nova' comes from an astronomical event in which a star suddenly shows a sudden large increase in brightness. I'd like to think that all my clients are already beautiful and bright. With my treatments, I can help my clients shine even brighter than they originally were.

Do you make house calls?Currently, Nova Beauty Studio only makes house calls for Makeup treatments that are in and around Rondebosch.

How do I book?You can book via our booking app or via whatsapp on 081 842 7607

How do I pay?For makeup bookings we ask that payment be done either by EFT or cash. For all other treatments we accept cash, card, Zapper and Snapscan.

How long does it take to apply lash extensions?We generally book out 2 hours for all full sets. This time may vary depending on how many natural lashes you have. For lash fills we book out 1,5 hours although this may be less depending on how many natural lashes you have.

How often should I get my lashes done?Lash Extensions should be filled every 2-3 weeks depending on your lash cycle. Some client's lashes grow quicker than others so they need to come sooner than others. How you look after your lashes will also make a difference in how your lashes last.

How do I care for my lash extensions?Avoid getting your lashes wet for 24 hours. Avoid rubbing your eyes and do not pick or pull your lashes. Brush your lashes with a clean spoolie daily. No mascara can be worn with lash extensions. Avoid all oily products. This includes sunscreen, creams, makeup removers etc. Try and sleep on your back to avoid crushing your extensions on the pillow. Avoid touching your extensions as much as possible to make them last longer. Keep your eye area clean. Touch-up appointments are required every 2-3 weeks.

How do I prep for lash extensions?In order for you to receive the best possible outcome please take note of the following leading up to your appointment: Avoid wearing mascara for at least 2 days before a full set. Please arrive with no mascara on. Please give your lashes a good clean before your appointment. Adhesive battles to stick to dirt and oil. Clients arriving with very dirty lashes will be charged for a lash bath. No caffeine or stimulants before the treatment. No moisturiser or cream around the eye area. Please remove your contacts for your appointment.

Will Lash Extensions damage my natural lashes?Understanding the lash growth cycle in important. Eyelashes naturally grow and shed and as they fall out, so will the extension. However this will only happen when extensions are applied correctly in such a way that they are neat and not weighing down the natural lash. If a lash is applied correctly then no damage will occur to your lashes unless they are not correctly taken care of. We as lash techs are highly trained and can promise your lashes will be applied correctly and no damage will occur to your lashes. We do ask that you do follow the aftercare instructions to avoid ruining your lashes as this has the potential to cause damage.

Do lash extensions hurt?No, the process of having lash extensions applied is painless! You may feel a slight pressure on your lashes or forehead as the extension is being applied, but it should not be uncomfortable.

How long do Lash Extensions last?Lash extensions typically last for 4-6 weeks before they have naturally fallen out, although this may be sooner if you have particularly active eyelash growth. Lash refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to keep your set looking fresh.

What are the different types of lashes?There are many different types of lash extensions available, from natural-looking styles to more dramatic looks. Classic lashes are one individual extension attached to one natural lash. This is for a very natural looking set. It gives off a mascara-like effect. Hybrid lashes are alternating one classic lash with one volume lash. This gives of a natural but full looking set. Wispy lashes are using closed fans to great a softer yet fuller look. It gives a soft and fluffy look which can vary in how wispy you'd like it. Volume lashes are 2-5 extensions placed onto one natural lash. Many are surprised to know that volume lashes, while very full, do not feel heavy. A special, lighter lash is used so that no damage will occur to the natural lash. Mega Volume lashes are 5-10 extensions attached to one natural lash. These are for clients who are wanting fullness and drama. Textured lashes are added to volume lashes to great a more dramatic look. They are longer lashes that are strategically placed. Texture is added to give sets a more wispy look or, alternatively, a strip lash look. Colour lashes is when coloured lashes are added to a set. Contact us to see what colours we have in stock!

I have sensitive eyes. Can I still get extensions?Yes! Great care has gone into choosing products that are safe for sensitive eyes. While your eyes may be prone to watering during treatment, we will make sure you are completely comfortable. Be sure to let your tech know you are sensitive so she can take extra care.

Can I wear mascara with my Lash Extensions?No, Please do not wear mascara with your extensions as these will damage your extensions by clumping them together.

Is the Lash Extension glued to my skin?No, Lash Extensions are adhered to your natural lash. They will be around 2mm away from your skin to ensure comfortability.

Can I have an allergic reaction?Just like many products on the market, there is a risk that some people may be allergic to a certain adhesive. Allergic reactions are extremely rare. However, if you do get an allergic reaction, it normally subsides when the extensions are taken off. This reaction is normally seen as swollen, puffy eyelids and under eye area. If you suspect you have had an allergic reaction please don't hesitate to notify us and we will book you in for a removal.

What is a Brow Lamination?Brow lamination is a noninvasive procedure that realigns the natural direction of your brow to give you the appearance of a fuller and fluffier brow.

How should I care for my Brow Lamination?Do not wet your brows for 24 hours after your treatment. Avoid scrubbing or touching your brows. Use a mascara wand to brush brows into place when needed.

Can I get Henna Spa Brows and a Brow Lamination together?Yes, but not on the same day. You will need to get a brow lamination done first and then at least 24 hours after you can get henna spa brows.

What are Henna Spa Brows?Henna brows are a form of eyebrow tinting that is used to stain the skin beneath the brow hairs.

How long do Henna Spa Brows last?Henna Spa Brows can last up to 2 weeks on the skin and 4 weeks on the hair.

Do Lash Lifts hurt?No, it is completely painless.

Are Lash Lifts safe?Yes, our highly trained techs will ensure the process is carried out properly.

How long do Lash Lifts last?Lash Lifts can last upt to 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person. There is no need to touch up in between treatments but if you feel you want to re-lift them you can do so after 4 weeks but not before.

Will I react to the products?It is very rare to react to the lotions however it does still happen from time to time. You may opt for a patch test 24 hours beforehand.

Will I go orange?No! We use products that have the best quality pharmaceutical grade DHA and Erythrulose. This means that they will no streak and will fade naturally. Going orange is not something you have to worry about when you have your spray tan with us.

Can I have a Spray Tan if I am pregnant?We suggest not to have a spray tan in your first trimester of while breast feeding.

How long will the Spray Tan take?Your professional spray tan will take up to 15 minutes. Please allow yourself sometime to change before and after your tan.

Will I be sticky after my Tan?It is normal to feel a little sticky immediately after your tan. The ingredients in the products are derived from sugar which is sticky. The products we use are the highest quality and don't dry out your skin.

How soon after can I shower after my Tan?Development time is 8-12 hours so it is recommended that you shower after those hours. Once you have showered, the second phase begins and your tan will fully develop after the full 24 hours.

How long will my Spray Tan last?Spray Tans last up to 7-10 days if you look after your tan. Follow the aftercare instructions to help your tan last.

Are Spray Tans safe?Yes! Spray Tans are the safest way to look tanned. Since you are not exposed to UV rays from the sun, you are not damaging the skin. Spray Tans only affect the top layer of your skin and are naturally exfoliated off in the shower so they are perfectly safe for your skin.

Do I have to go nude?No, it is completely up to you on how much of your body you'd like to be sprayed. Some clients get sprayed in a bikini, in their underwear, full costume or full naked. We have seen it all so don't feel shy! Please note than anything you wear will leave you with a tan line so please keep this in mind when choosing what to be sprayed in.

What should I wear after my Tan?Spray Tans don't usually stain clothing unless it is made of nylon or polyester. It is advisable to wear dark, loose clothing. This will prevent any lines that may be caused from tight clothing.

When do I shave for my tan?It is best to shave before you tan as shaving does exfoliate and this could remove some of your tan.

What shade of tan must I use?Currently we only stock Medium. Medium does not refer to how dark you will go. It refers to the strength of the ingredients. Medium is your go to shade and will compliment your skin.

What do I need to do before my Spray Tan?Keep your skin moisturised in the week leading up to your tan. Wax or shave the day before your tan. Exfoliate thoroughly with exfoliating gloves or a sponge prior to your tan. Avoid cream, deodorant or perfume on the day of your tan. Wear loose, dark clothing after your tan and bring slops along. Bring an umbrella if it is raining.

What do I need to do after my Spray Tan?Wear loose clothing and slops while your tan develops, avoid wearing a bra if possible. Powder can be used under arms and behind knees to avoid feeling sticky. During the 8-12 hour development, avoid water, gym, sweat and anything rubbing on your skin. If you need to wash your hands, use a wet wipe. When swimming use a water resistant SPF to protect your tan. Pat skin dry with a towel, instead of rubbing. Avoid exfoliants and hair removal. Moisturise twice daily with a light weight moisturiser. Avoid oils.

What products do you use?We use a range of high quality cruelty-free makeup which include Kryolan, Urban Decay, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Morphe, Swiitch Beauty, Creative Glamour and more.

Why do you recommend a Trial?Trials are so so important because it helps the artist and client decide on a look that works beforehand. It takes off the pressure from both parties so that on the day of the event it is a relaxed part of the day as both know what to expect. It also helps the artist to ensure the longevity of the makeup for on the day.

Do you require a deposit?Yes, We require deposits for all wedding makeup to secure the date and balance of the amount needs to be paid at least 2 weeks before the date. The deposit is 50% of the total cost.

Will I get a schedule for makeup services?Yes, you will receive a schedule/timeline for wedding parties above 4 people. This will help structure the day so that we run on time.

What are your travel rates?Depending on how far your location is, you will be charged accordingly. My rate is currently R5/km but this is subject to change last minute. Parking, tolls and other fees may also be included in my rate.

Does Facial Waxing hurt?Facial Waxing involves removing unwanted hair from your face. Unfortunately it isn't painless. Facial Waxing can range from mild or moderate pain depending on your pain threshold and hormones. We do our best to make you the most comfortable and apply creams and gels to sooth your skin after removing the hair.

Is facial waxing safe for sensitive skin?Yes, you may notice so redness after your appointment but it will be safe for your skin.
