Dos and Donts of Lash Extensions

Getting your lashes done is a great decision that we are sure you won't regret! Here are some Do's and Don't of lash extensions so you can get the best out of your lashes.

DO

  • Keep them in shape! With every full set appointment, you will receive a mascara wand. This is so you can brush through them. Brush your lashes daily will keep them untangled and avoid getting stuck to each other.

  • Avoid Oil-based products. Oil can break down the adhesive so it's best to switch to oil-free products.

  • Book your lash fills every 2-3 weeks. Maintenance fills are recommended to keep your lashes looking fresh. It also allows us to remove any out grown lashes.

  • Go to a certified lash artist. Gone are the days when you think you don't deserve the best. You deserve to go to someone who looks after your lashes and will give you safe and good quality lashes.

  • Sleep on your back. Lying on your lashes wether that be face down or on your side will cause your lashes to fall out faster. If you can, sleep on your back for longer lasting lashes.

  • Clean your lashes regularly. Clean lashes are happy lashes. You should be cleaning your lashes with a lash safe cleanser daily.

  • Protect your lashes from heat. Ovens can actually cinch your lashes. Your extensions are synthetic so keep away from intense heat. Saunas can also drop the curl of your lashes and steam rooms can cause the glue to soften resulting in premature fall out.

  • Ask questions. Your lash artist is a professional and should be able to answer any questions you have. If it feels like something is wrong, don't be afraid to ask your lash artist.

DON'T

  • Arrive to your appointment after drinking coffee. Coffee causes your eyes to jump which can make it difficult to lash. It is already an intricate job, you don't want to make it difficult for your lash artist.

  • Arrive at your appointment with eye makeup on. You will lose time allocated for your appointment and any residue left can cause the lashes not to stick correctly.

  • Be impatient with your lash artist. Understanding that lash extensions are not a quick process is essential. Rushing your lash artist can cause mistakes to happen while she is lashing you.

  • Open your eyes while in your appointment. The adhesive has extremely strong fumes that should not go into your eyes. If you need to open your eyes, let your lash artist know so she can get rid of the fumes first to avoid a reaction.

  • Touch them. Avoid pulling, tugging and picking at your lashes. This can cause damage to your natural lashes. If you want them removed, book an appointment instead of trying to pull them off.

  • Use Mascara. Mascara is an absolute no-no. Especially if you have hybrid or volume lashes. Mascara will close your fans and clump your lashes together. It will be impossible to clean your lashes after applying mascara. You are essentially ruining your extensions the moment you apply mascara.

  • Use a lash curler. Your extensions come with a specific curl. Using a lash curler can alter the curl of the extension. If they are not curly enough for you, ask your lash artist to use a different curl on you instead.

  • Cut your extensions. While you may feel your lash extensions are too long, rather communicate with your lash artist to bring you down a size. Cutting your extensions can result in your cutting your natural lashes with the extensions. Lash extensions are also tapered at the end to give a natural appearance. Cutting them will leave a blunt end which can look unappealing.
